Evoke is seeking a Lead Network Engineer to join our team!
As a Lead Network Engineer at Evoke Research and Consulting, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining reliable and secure network infrastructure under the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Operational Infrastructure Support Services (OISS) contract. Your responsibilities will involve ensuring efficient connectivity, optimizing network performance, and addressing technical issues to support the FCC's critical operations. With your expertise in network engineering and your dedication to excellence, you will lead the Network team to the seamless delivery of network services.
Responsibilities:
- Network Design and Architecture: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and plan network architectures that meet the FCC's operational requirements. Understand VoIP technology including PoE desktop and soft phones, call management and routing and have a general understanding of VoIP call center, voicemail, and collaboration software. Develop comprehensive network diagrams, documentation, and implementation plans.
- Network Implementation: Configure and deploy network hardware and software components, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs. Have an intermediate level understanding of VoIP integration within an enterprise network. Ensure proper installation and adherence to industry best practices.
- Network Security: Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls. Monitor network traffic for unusual activity and respond to security incidents.
- Network Performance Optimization: Monitor network performance and traffic patterns. Identify bottlenecks, latency issues, and other performance constraints. Fine-tune network parameters for optimal efficiency.
- Network Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex network issues, collaborating with internal teams and vendors to address connectivity problems, hardware malfunctions, and other technical challenges. Need the ability to capture, analyze and present findings regarding IP packet flows.
- Network Upgrades and Patches: Plan and execute network equipment upgrades, including hardware replacements and firmware updates. Apply security patches and upgrades to maintain network stability and security.
- Network Monitoring and Management: Implement network monitoring tools to proactively detect and address network issues. Ensure that network devices are properly configured, monitored, and backed up.
- Network Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including network diagrams, configuration settings, and standard operating procedures.
- Network Capacity Planning: Evaluate network capacity requirements and plan for future growth. Recommend and implement scalable solutions to accommodate increasing network demands.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate network systems with other infrastructure components, applications, and services.
Professional Experience and Skills:
- Proven experience as a Network Engineer, designing, implementing, and supporting network infrastructure in a professional environment.
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), and technologies.
- Experience with network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs.
- Familiarity with network security principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in network monitoring and management tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Education and Years of Experience:
- 10 years of experience as a Network Engineer or related
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
Security Clearance
- Applicants selected must be eligible to work in the United States, be subject to a government security investigation, and meet eligibility requirements for access to protected information
