The Portland, OR store will proudly showcase evos trademark blend of sport, culture, art, retail and service; delivering a specialty retail experience with a thoughtful blend of hardgoods and softgoods for skiing, snowboarding, biking, surfing, and skateboarding as well as curated lifestyle apparel and accessories. There is a full-service shop that handles all things ski, snowboard, and bike along with an extensive fleet of rentals. We also proudly offer a variety of services for our customers including buy online pickup in store (BOPIS), boot fitting appointments, ship from store, and many more.

 

 

The Job

The Store Manager is responsible for all store functions associated with running a high-velocity retail store and service shop, blending both a focus on our unique guest experience and best practices for leading a team, driving sales and service, and managing and balancing both the top and bottom line. We are searching for an experienced manager who is passionate about our culture, the outdoors, and crafting exceptional experiences for both our employees and our guests. The Portland manager will build relationships with ease, communicate with transparency and respect, and be inspired by innovation. Together with their team, the Portland manager is responsible for the stores success through customer service, positive community engagement, and providing authentic and friendly customer experiences for all.

 

What you will do

  • Represent evo in a positive, humble, and professional manner consistent with our Great 8 core values.
  • Be an approachable, honest, transparent, and empathetic leader for the team and business.
  • Lead and direct the activities of all store staff to deliver exceptional guest experiences and exceed key performance indicators (KPIs) and goals for the store.
  • Proactively identify areas of business opportunity both inside the store and within the community, building meaningful relationships to drive store performance.
  • Attract, hire, develop, and retain a diverse team of employees by providing thorough training, consistent actionable feedback, genuine recognition, and ongoing meaningful dialogue consistent with evos Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) goals.
  • Produce store staffing schedules that meet the needs of the business and maximize efficiency through the optimization of labor and productivity.
  • Provide ongoing full store staff monthly labor forecasts to ensure the proper balance of consumer demand and operational productivity and profitability are achieved.
  • Oversee and actively manage to evos visual merchandising standards, high level of operational excellence, and best-in-class customer experience expectations.
  • Ensure that all company policies and practices are communicated to staff and practiced consistently and equitably.
  • Create a safe and secure working environment that is supportive, positive, respectful, and free from harassment.
  • Full management and accountability to store P&L including actively addressing all store expenses according to a monthly budget and proactively delivering creative problem solving against variances.
  • Contribute cross-divisionally to provide consistency across all lines of business, lead company/store initiatives, and provide critical and valuable input to the annual planning and budgeting cycle.
  • Communicate a clear vision for success, create a plan to achieve goals, and build relationships across all levels of business to succeed.


What you will need

  • 7 years of experience managing a large diverse team of people and a demonstrated passion for growing and developing employees.
  • 5 years of demonstrated successful retail management experience in a complex, multi-channel, specialty retail environment with a track record of a relentless pursuit of excellence and improvement.
  • Exceptional service skills and a demonstrated ability to learn, grow, and possess a desire to provide excellent guest experiences that build loyalty and credibility within our communities.
  • Commitment to finding innovative workable solutions to business challenges, leading through change, and seeking a better way.
  • Proven ability to work with peers and colleagues across varying levels of organization and geographies to proactively problem solve and strategically create new business opportunities.
  • Aptitude for strategic business management and planning that responds to the business goals and the Portland, OR community.
  • Ability to make sound judgment calls in the best interests of our guests, employees, and evo.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills and the ability to thrive under pressure.
  • Capacity to accurately budget and forecast, maintain expense control, manage payroll, and correctly allocate resources.
  • Innate ability to assess the teams strengths and growth opportunities and the ambition to consistently promote self-growth, improvement, and honest reflection.
