Assist the Maintenance Manager with the management of site resident contractors. Supports NAFTA Contractor Management Officer (CMO) in the day-to day oversight and coordination of site Resident Contractors with heavy responsibilities associated with EHSQ along with manpower planning, scheduling and execution, and customer satisfaction at the Mobile Site. Plan, organize and administer workshop maintenance budget.
Assign, supervise, guide/direct and control the operation of the maintenance requirements to include work assignments, job schedules, work priorities, and plant improvements. Direct activities of workshop maintenance personnel and contracted maintenance activities to maintain the operation of all plant equipment and the overall facility, which includes mechanical, electrical, and external contractor aspects in accordance with all legal and other requirements such as the guiding principles of Responsible Care®.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform routine tasks such as planning, initiating, organizing and managing routine maintenance.
- Serves as a single point of contact for supervision of maintenance projects. Observes construction progress of projects to meet deadlines within budget.
- Prepares scope changes when required.
- Obtain quotations and issue requisitions for all required materials, equipment, supplies, and contracts.
- Monitor the overall condition of the plant, analyze the technical condition of equipment and identify safety risks and other improvement opportunities. When problems occur, the incumbent searches for root causes and avoids quick fixes.
- Provide accurate material, labor and estimates on routine smaller projects.
- Ensures successful completion of documentation for maintenance activities, mechanical integrity, compliance items, technical changes and maintenance projects.
- Is responsible for accessing spare part lists and documentation for standard and complex, non-standard equipment. Also ensure that equipment documentation is accurate.
- Initiate, review and approve work notifications orders / purchase requisitions for required maintenance activities.
- Responsible for supervising and evaluating external contractors.
- Responsible for the effective execution of all maintenance work within assigned area with a high level of demonstrated safety and environmental awareness.
- Coaches and mentors technicians by providing tactical direction for the routine and preventive maintenance activities.
- Responsible for the completion of employee’s formal performance evaluations. Use the performance evaluation as the means to steer the work force to a high level of efficiency and productivity.
- Applies disciplinary measures as needed and/or required under HR policies and procedures.
- Fulfills administrative responsibilities approving vacation, time off and supporting accuracy of time sheets for Evonik and contract technicians working in assigned area.
- Develops technician work force by identifying training needs and facilitating technical resources for the timely training application.
- Manages work load, by distributing maintenance labor and coordinating manpower in assigned area.
- Leads the assigned technical team to operate consistently in a continuous improvement environment.
- Drives increased efficiency by maximizing Wrench Time across all crafts including contractor resources, and helping technicians remove “roadblocks” in their daily work by frequently visiting work sites in the field.
- Facilitates and communicates Training and Development of Technicians by managing and balancing daily job assignments and training needs.
- Supports site efforts in the development, management and implementation of all planning, system controls, budgets and related maintenance support services to achieve maximum efficiencies and overall effectiveness.
- Creates daily schedules and balances resources to the weekly schedule in coordination with other S6 Maintenance Coordinators on the site.
- Performs and reports in-house contract audits on a frequent basis.
- Provides feedback to other groups including, but not limited to, production, technical, engineering, etc.; in support of continuous improvement efforts.
- Responsible for altering and communicating daily schedule as necessary to perform urgent/emergency work.
- Monitor costs in area.
- Monitor quality of work to ensure low levels of rework.
- Works with gatekeepers and planners to prioritize work and keeps them informed of work progress and other issues.
- Works with planners to ensure planners are allowed to perform planner duties. Informs planners of available craft hours each week for scheduling.
- Review feedback forms for completeness and additional work.
- Reviews employee performance formally and informally on a regular basis
- Acts as a technical contact on a regular basis to provide full technical assistance in case of emergencies
- Serves as single point of maintenance contact for plant turnarounds and directs work to ensure successful on-time completions.
- If applicable, issue complaints and ensure that corrective measures are implemented
- Distribute and cooperate in the further development of the Technical Standards
- Ensure that site-specific regulations for the CMS and TAR manuals are supplemented or amended
- Make sure that the measures derived from audits are implemented
- Assist in the annual report to company or site management and to the Head of the Technical Services BL-TS
REQUIREMENTS
- Engineering degree (mechanical or chemical) required and two (2) to five (5) years experience as a maintenance Supervisor preferred.
- SAP knowledge preferred. Incumbent should possess broad based skills in all maintenance crafts. The incumbent must be results oriented, decisive, and have good inter personal skills.
