Accountant Payable Job Responsibilities
An accountant analyzes financial information to assess completeness and accuracy of business operation costs, revenues, future expenses and other financial commitments. An accountant also prepares financial report to maintain records or determine assets, liabilities, profit or loss, tax liability and other financial activities within an organization.
Accountant Job Duties:
· Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
· Create innovative strategies and implement processes in accountant functions.
· Organize, analyze and evaluate financial statements and reports.
· Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
· Prepare and analyze accounts receivable records and statements.
· Perform reconciliation of customer balances and bank accounts.
· Prepare and analyze annual budget and other financial statements.
· Develop sales database with invoices and payments details.
· Prepare periodical financial statements and records for the management.
· Assist and support audit teams in evaluating and assessing the accounting systems.
· Ensure the highest degree of standards in accountant functions.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education/Experience Requirements: A successful candidate for an accountant job must possess a four-year degree in finance, accounting or any related field of study or experience equivalent.
Required Skills: Exceptional mathematical skills and strong communication skills (both written and oral) to be able to discuss financial matters with clients. He/she must be a critical thinker, active listener, and active learner and have superb reading comprehension and can provide effective decision-making strategies that could benefit a company/client’s finances. An accountant must also be able to work under pressure, with or without a team, and be able to meet deadlines while carrying a heavy work load.
Specific work elements: Computing taxes owed and preparing tax returns; dealing with other tax requirements; develop and analyze budgets; develop, modify and maintain accounting and recordkeeping systems (particularly with the use of computer technology); advise management about financial issues that could encourage savings; investigate bankruptcies; advise clients in future investments, long-range tax plans and other long-term finances.
