PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Assistant General Counsel - Litigation is a highly experienced litigation attorney who advises and represents the Company, primarily in New Jersey, in connection with complex tort and commercial disputes and internal investigations. While this position largely focuses on matters related to Atlantic City Electric, the Assistant General Counsel works across Exelon's legal department and Business Units to identify and mitigate Company's legal risks.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provides legal services and advice, primarily in New Jersey, to Exelon Business Units on complex tort and commercial matters and internal investigations, including conducting and supervising large and complex litigation-related assignments; directing internal investigations across Exelon's Business Units; directing outside counsel; and representing Exelon in litigation in state and federal courts and in other relevant forums.
Provides legal counsel and strategic communication to Business Unit clients and all levels of management regarding litigation, investigations, and other matters.
Works across the Legal Department and the Company to proactively identify and mitigate litigation and other legal risks.
- Provides lead direction and/or project leadership direction to less experienced attorneys and support staff.
- Prepare, and revise as necessary, budgets and early matter assessments for all matters involving outside counsel.

JOB SCOPE
Provides legal services, including representing the Company in judicial proceedings, arbitrations, and mediations in New Jersey, and manages relationships and litigation matters with Business Units and outside counsel.
Demonstrates superior business knowledge in portions of the business and industry; anticipates and understands trends in areas of law related to the business; able to think strategically and to work with Business Units to achieve company objectives and manage litigation risks.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- An LLB or JD from an accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice law in New Jersey.
- At least 7 years of litigation experience, including experience in handling tort and commercial matters.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant state and federal law and of principles, practices, and procedures of the legal field to the completion of complex assignments.
- Superior legal research, analytical, and communication skills.

Excellent judgment: Ability to work well in ambiguous, challenging, and sensitive situations, and to work independently under time deadlines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of legal issues affecting electric and natural gas utilities.- Admitted to practice law in Delaware.
- Experience in conducting internal investigations.
Salary : $149,000 - $188,000
