Be our next Electrical Designer/Engineer
Your work environment at EXP
In this role, you will be a part of the Electrical team, for Aviation, Transit, Higher Education and Commercial Building projects in the Chicago, St Louis or Raleigh, North Carolina office.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Convert engineer’s markups into working Revit MEP drawings/models.
- Visualize systems in a 3D environment and utilize clash detection software (IE: Interference Watcher).
- Prepare Revit floor plans showing electrical device layouts, circuitry, fixtures, equipment, etc.
- Prepare one-line diagrams with input from Engineers.
- Prepare electrical loads and develop panel schedules with input from Engineers.
- Layout fire alarm devices on floor plans with input from Engineers.
- Layout lighting fixtures on plans and demonstrate fundamental knowledge of lighting concepts.
- Learn to correctly apply concepts of emergency and normal power systems.
- Coordinate device locations, loads, and circuitry with other disciplines.
- Develop knowledge of the National Electrical Codes, other codes, and design standards.
- Perform lighting calculations and develop models using a lighting photometric program such as AGI 32, Visual, or ElumTools.
- Layout equipment rooms with input from Engineers.
- Participate in coordination of space and utility requirements with other disciplines.
- Prepare drawings and revisions for various submissions.
- Apply procedures or standardized methods to solve simple problems.
- Participate in voluntary training opportunities such as vendor lunch and learns.
- Positively contribute to EXP and local office culture.
What your experience looks like
- Engineering Degree (BS Architectural Engineering, or BS Electrical Engineering, or equivalent degree)
- Previous Revit MEP experience
- 0-5 years of experience
- FE Certification (Fundamentals In Engineering) working towards PE
- Ability to travel locally.
