Be our next Structural Engineer for buildings projects. The position(s) required are variable but Senior Engineers, Project Leads, and Project Engineers will be considered.
Your work environment at EXP
In this role, you will be a part of a Building Structures focused team and reporting to a Director of Building Structures. The location for the selected candidate is flexible but ideal location could include but are not limited to Atlanta, St. Louis, Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee, Columbus, Michigan, and Dallas.
The Building Structures team executes projects throughout the United States and several US Territories. In addition, opportunities to support non-US based teams within EXP should be expected.
The successful candidate will be able to work both independently as well as with a diverse team in-house team of professionals and subconsultants throughout the country in all disciplines. The ideal candidate will not only provide technical expertise in the execution of projects but be able to provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members.
The chosen candidate should expect engagement in a variety of project types. Major market sectors include but are not limited to mission critical buildings, aviation, light passenger rail, and commercial building design.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Ability to self-perform and/or assist others in performing the required work at any stage of a project from schematic design through construction administration.
- Calculations, sketches, drawing production, specifications, multi-discipline coordination should be expected on a regular basis.
- Conducting observations of and evaluating existing conditions in both the field and via existing historical drawings are commonplace.
- Expect to work on multiple projects concurrently that require coordination of work between multiple EXP offices, as well as outside consultants.
- Occasional short-term travel to project sites. Usually, a single night or two at a time.
What your experience looks like
- Targeted experience level is 5-10 years with a focus on building design.
- Possess a solid understanding of various structural analysis software such as RAM, RISA, ETABS.
- Maintain strong Revit skills in both modeling and sheet creation at a minimum. Additional skills on items such as family creation, knowledge of parameter use, and templates is a plus.
- Professional Engineering licensure is required. Licensure as a Structural Engineer via structural specific examination (Structural I/II, Structural Gravity/Lateral) is preferred.
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is strongly preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering w/ an emphasis on structures is considered a minimum requirement.
- Hold excellent written and verbal communication skills. Possess the ability to write persuasively and communicate technical subject matter in a concise and comprehendible manner to a less technical audience.
