Job Posting for GIS Mapping Intern (Summer Internship) at Explorer Pipeline

The GIS Mapping Intern focus will be on the following activities:

  • Goals
    1. Understand how Explorer receives and processes GIS data for internal use.
      1. Survey data – from inspectors, ROW Techs, vendors, or outside work (i.e. easement releases)
      2. Foreign line crossings
      3. Integrity data from handhelds
      4. Relocation drawings, Plats, Exhibits, Weld Maps, Historical documents
    2. Understand how our Dept. is used to support the company thru
      1. Alignment sheets
      2. Enterprise Asset database
      3. Project Files
      4. Working with Legal and Right of Way on easement releases
      5. Project Engineering
        1. Prelim planning.
        2. Validating data.
    3. Integrity and dig maps
  • Tasks to complete:
    1. Process integrity Data using ArcGIS Pipeline Referencing (APR).
    2. Update locations and attributes of connection points.
    3. Work on requested Maps i.e. Dig Maps, Easement Release.
    4. Publish mobile map packages to Explorer’s Enterprise Portal.
    5. Populate address data for Cathodic Protection locations. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful intern candidate will have:

  • completed their college Junior year by this summer
  • self-motivated
  • a high level of verbal and written communication skills
  • focus on time and resource management
  • solid computer skills in ArcGIS Desktop (PRO optional)
  • outstanding project execution capability
  • must have own housing accommodation in the Tulsa or surrounding area
