Job Description
Experian Business Information are looking for a Lead Developer, based in Hyderabad, India to work alongside our UK colleagues. This role will be working on the project of our key strategic client. We deliver an industry leading financial crime product to this client. This role will be helping to run, improve and grow this product by working on the key functionality which exists in Oracle.
Purpose
As this is a ‘Lead’ role you will be expected to be able to contribute to the code base as an individual contributor and as a leader, especially to the other roles we are hiring in Hyderabad. Currently we have a development team in the UK working on this system, we are looking to build out a complementary team in Hyderabad, you will be a key member of that team. You will be expected to lead the resolution of production issues when they occur with the system and ensure we deliver an excellent service to our client.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures quality of technical output amongst peers, and more junior members of the team
Takes responsibility for the development and delivery of business objectives
Leads the root cause investigation / identification of bugs / defects
Timely and appropriate escalation of issues to line manager with recommended solutions. Action solutions where authorisation permits
Manages own tasks and time to ensure meeting project deadlines
Supports/inducts new members of the team ensuring development of technical knowledge and clarity around behavioural/ cultural expectations
Proactively coaches/mentors staff in the development of their systems knowledge and technical skills, and identification of their training needs
Demonstrates good communication within the team or project group, both in sharing knowledge, skills and experience
Proactive provision of technical support, including relevant documentation for internal or external customers, directly or via a divisional help desk
Actively contribute to a culture where the fair treatment of customers is at the heart of the Experian business. Take personal responsibility to ensure that you adhere to all regulatory requirements and apply appropriate controls in the interests of our customers
Understand and adhere to Experian processes and policies including, but not limited to, software development lifecycle, product development lifecycle, governance and compliance and performance management
Qualifications
Qualifications
University level degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Maths or related discipline or equivalent experience.
Experience
Passionate about programming and able to help drive a culture of enthusiasm and innovation!
Strong professional experience of design, development, testing and end to end ownership of production software
Experienced in mentoring others, leading design discussions and communicating complex ideas clearly
A good understanding of how to write clean, efficient, well tested code
A keenness to learn and to work in a highly collaborative environment
Experience working with UK based teams is a bonus!
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
An appreciation that the simple solution to a problem – while often harder to discover than the complex one - is usually best
Experience working in an Agile team (i.e. Scrum) would be great
Required Technical Skills/Knowledge
Primarily Oracle PL/SQL
utPLSQL
GIT/Bitbucket
Some knowledge of Java or Python would be a bonus but not required
