Experian is seeking a highly talented, motivated, and proactive Senior Java Engineer to join our Targeting Engineering team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to design and build next generation applications and data processing platforms in support of Experian’s targeted digital advertising business. This position is responsible for all phases of the program life cycle.

You will be the Product Owner for Experian Marketing Services Data Products chartered with defining core specification and product capabilities that deliver value in a timely manner through close collaboration with analytics, delivery, and development teams. Data is the core of Experian Marketing Services – we have a wealth of consumer, household and geo-level attributes and data science models that define who people are, what people do, where they go, what they buy, how they behave and what they are going to do next. As a PO leading the data products, you will work alongside several Product Managers (who are outwardly facing and generating roadmaps) to collect requirements and work across Engineering Teams, Information Security, Analytics, and Infrastructure Delivery teams, driving the future of our data product set including how it’s delivered and consumed.
You will be responsible for quality and speed of execution of the product team roadmaps, working with internal stakeholders to support new capability launches and expansion plans, engaging with our product team and clients, to understand their needs and to present our approach.
What you’ll do:
- Translates business requirements into technical requirements that are shared and understood with Development, Analytics, Delivery teams and other stakeholders.
- Responsible for building, validating, maintaining, and prioritizing the product backlog of requirements alongside the Product Manager and business stakeholders, balancing the demands of the business and technology.
- You will work alongside Product Managers, Data team and other business stakeholders responsible for the development of data products and platforms. Including new segments/audiences, new data offerings, data refreshes including releases, platform mapping, and cost allocations.
- Ensure data products are accessible by the business; accounting teams, showcased in sales tracking tools, available for cost price quotes and tracked by finance systems across products and services.
- Assist with retirement research and help product management leaders make decisions about which offerings are valuable to the business.
- Manage system and fulfillment implementation of new datasets, new analytical products, and retirement of products with the direction from Product Manager.
- Manage internal communications and documentation about data products, working with data teams on ensuring taxonomies are up to date
- Triage and manage all bugs and issues in the delivery process as well as all required support activity for the product
- Owns progress report and status updates, including issue escalation that impact milestones and release cadence
- Work in tandem with data partnership team to understand contractual obligations and application of data consent rules.
- Liaison between internal teams and third-party data providers to access specifications and get clarification on any issues that may arise in the interpretation of specifications
- Own the delivery of product features and own Sprint / Release demos to demonstrate progress to stakeholders
- Collaborate across internal teams in different locations to identify dependencies, requirements, and approvals
- A good understanding of the adverting and marketing technology space as well as how data and analytics can optimize client outcomes
- Understanding of the programmatic advertising space including consumer platforms, advanced tv is a plus
- Past experience building and managing data products
- Understanding of postal addressing, licensing, and usage a plus
- Experience in Product Owner, Business Analyst, or equivalent business roles, with specific experience in creating and managing a backlog and creating user stories
- Experience of delivering within an Agile framework including managing and prioritizing the product backlog (containing demands from different stakeholder groups), ensuring user stories are ‘ready’ for development to start, developing appropriate acceptance criteria, and attesting to the correct delivery
- Ability to build a good working dynamic with the engineering teams, providing challenge and support as required
- Ability to have robust conversations to justify your prioritization of the backlog across the stakeholder group
- Proven track record of effective delivery in a fast-paced organization, recognizing the need for business planning and agile delivery
- Strong communication skills, including being able to present sprint demos and good written communication.
