About the Role:
The Senior Manager of Databases, reporting the Vice President of Data Cloud and Security Engineering, will work on the Platform Engineering Team in FSD. You will manage available, and highly secure databases. This is a critical role to manage existing on-prem databases and lead on-prem to Cloud database migrations. You will collaborate with a team of experienced DBAs to ensure our databases are performant, secure, and scalable.

About the Role:

You will collaborate with a team of experienced DBAs to ensure our databases are performant, secure, and scalable.
Main Responsibilities
- Database Migration: Deliver the migration of on-premises Oracle databases to AWS RDS Aurora MySQL/PostgreSQL using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and Schema Conversion Tool (SCT).
- Database Administration: Manage AWS RDS PostgreSQL databases, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
- Performance Tuning: Resolve database performance issues, improve queries, and manage resource allocation to improve system performance.
- Security: Implement and enforce data security best practices, including access controls, encryption, and adherence to industry compliance standards.
- Backup and Recovery: Design and manage backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and support disaster recovery efforts.
- Automation: Develop automation scripts using Terraform and manage deployment pipelines with Jenkins for database provisioning, scaling, and maintenance.
- Collaboration: Work with development and operations teams to provide database support, troubleshooting, and technical guidance.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations and processes.
- Continuous Learning: Stay current with AWS and database technologies, recommending optimizations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or equivalent in Computer Science
- 10 years of experience as a Database Administrator / Leader with a focus on AWS cloud database management.
- Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and scripting languages for automation (e.g., Python, Bash).
- Experience migrating databases from on-premises to cloud environments, especially with production workloads.
- Demonstrated expertise in migrating Oracle databases to AWS RDS PostgreSQL using AWS DMS and SCT.
- Experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code.
