Overview
We are looking for technical implementation specialist who can help with Azure security and compliance work. This is a part-time contractor position.
Microsofts Tech for Fundamental Rights (TFR) teams, comprised of our Democracy Forward, Accessibility, Airband, Human Rights, Innovation Society, Supply Chain Integrity, and Central Management teams. The team owns internally- and externally-facing projects in Azure, but largely have nontechnical staff that need additional support in staying on top of changing technical compliance and security features in Azure.
Maintaining Azure security and compliance settings, policies, best practices, basic security investigations, support across our Azure cloud environments. They will also be involved in troubleshooting and resolving security and compliance issues.
Typical Day in the Role
• Purpose of the Team - Implementing and maintaining Azure security and compliance settings, policies, best practices, basic security investigations, support across our Azure cloud environments
• Key projects - Work on out of compliance measures, focusing on Azure needs, focusing on cyber security, assist with backlog, attempting to streamline and create a dedicated role

Job Tasks
• Understand Microsoft-internal security and compliance requirements for technical Azure subscriptions, and be responsible for hands-on implementation of these requirements
• Help guide technical and non-technical teams to address security issues associated with Azure infrastructure and other engineering processes.
• Remediation of security findings across multiple services, helping troubleshoot technical issues and finding timely solutions for:
o Azure infrastructure
o Software updates
o Web applications and backend services
o Source code security issues
• Implement code fixes for Open-Source vulnerabilities and other security issues
• Create data flows and threat model diagrams
• Work with development teams and service owners to understand and minimize impact from environment settings changes
Required Skills
• BS degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related technical field involving coding, security or equivalent practical experience
• A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience using Azure
• Demonstratable experience with the following areas:
o Azure infrastructure experience both IaaS and PaaS resource administration
o Proficiency with the Azure Portal and Azure PowerShell/CLI
o Open-Source vulnerabilities and other security related issues fixes in Source Code
o Configuration of security settings in Azure resources (e.g. encryption, public access, ports, NSG, firewalls)
o Kusto Query Language (KQL)
o Certificate management and rotation
o Azure DevOps, work item management, source code, pipelines (build and release)
o Knowledge of the Service 360 Microsoft-internal compliance tool
• Strong communication skills to be able to engage with multiple teams, both technical and non-technical audiences
• Process and detail oriented
• Strong multitasker, able to work across multiple teams and business units
Logistics
• This is a part-time contract position for an initial 6 month time span, with an extension available up to a maximum of 18 months total.
• Anticipated start date is early January 2024
• Fully remote work is OK, with preference given to candidates able to come into Microsofts Redmond, WA or Washington, DC office twice per month to meet with business stakeholders
• Expected workload is 10-20 hours per week, depending on security governance changes
• You will need to sign relevant non-disclosure & privacy agreements and complete Cloud Screen background checks in order to get a network administrator account before starting work
