Job Description

Director of Fundraising Exponents is seeking a Director of Fundraising to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual gifts prospects and donors. The DF will report to the Executive Vice President/CFO and work with leadership and engage with the Board of Directors to achieve and expand fundraising. S/He will be responsible for increasing the level of support of current annual giving donors and securing new donors to achieve prescribed revenue goals. The successful candidate will understand the value of building authentic relationships with individuals and proactively manage a diversified portfolio thereby strengthening the pipeline for future gifts. S/He will be a relationship-focused fundraiser who will build strong associations, cultivating and soliciting donors by effectively organizing events large and small for this purpose. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Working closely with the EVP/CFO, the Director of Fundraising will shape and execute the organization's approach to generating financial support through fundraising, grant writing, and event planning. Will work with senior program staff to ensure alignment of external communications with the mission, vision, and goals of Exponents; including design and execution of a comprehensive external communications plan which promotes, enhances, and protects Exponents brand and reputation. Fundraising * Create and implement an annual fundraising plan and strategy, * Will collaborate with Executive Team on fundraising strategies, both day-to-day as well as special campaigns, events, mailings and appeals * Manage special fundraising projects such as capital campaigns, challenge grants, and planned giving * Write and edit persuasive appeal letters and materials * Provide timely reports to the EVP/CFO and Board of Directors, as needed * Supervise Fundraising Associate (volunteer) in managing Bloomerang donor database. Oversee tax acknowledgment correspondence, mailings, and reporting * Provide high-level management to support fundraising efforts with Bloomerang, back office support, and donor management * Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and prospective individuals, foundations, and corporate donors * Leverage key relationships and contacts within and outside of the Exponents to meet revenue goals * Assist in producing the Exponents Annual Report * Represent the Exponents at community events and meetings Grant Writing & Management * Thoroughly understand the history, programs, and services of Exponents * Seek out and research relevant unrestricted grant opportunities * Be knowledgeable about potential community resources for grant collaboration/ partnership * Attend applicable pre-proposal workshops/webinars * Secure all required supplemental documentation, including letters of support and budgets * Write well-organized, compelling proposal drafts that follow the requirements of the RFP and submit for review to the supervisor, and if applicable, to partners, adhering strictly to timelines/deadlines throughout the process * Make edits or revisions to drafts, as required, in a timely manner * Submit final proposal via print or online submission to ensure receipt before the deadline and in compliance with all proposal preparation requirements * Responsible for maintaining all records and digital copies of all grant correspondence, including proposals, applications, LOIs, award letters, reports, etc. * Report to funders in a timely fashion * Supervise the Fundraising Associate (volunteer) in maintaining the annual schedule of due dates for proposals, renewals, applications, and reporting Event Planning * Plan and manage special events and fundraisers in conjunction with Executive Team * Responsible for vendor selection, management and communication, as well as on-site logistical support * Manage event budgets and provide timely reporting * Oversee event registration with Fundraising Associate * Coordinate outreach and communications strategy for events with Marketing & Communications Manager * Create and implement corporate sponsorship outreach strategy * Solicit businesses and organizations for silent auction items and donations of in-kind services Requirements & Skills We are looking for an individual with experience creating a development strategy and a proven track record of researching, developing, writing, preparing, and submitting successful grant proposals and raising substantial funds through the expansion of individual donors for a mid-size agency. The candidate must possess the following * Respect for diversity of opinion, experience, and background * Enthusiasm, resourcefulness, and positive can-do attitude * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Skill to craft compelling stories about a unique organization * Ability to organize and prioritize work * Present and conduct themselves in a professional manner to represent the organization. * 7 years of development and Fundraising experience required * 5 years of event
