What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Extant Healthcare?
The opening is for a full-time Medical Assistant at our outpatient office for trauma and general surgery patients, located at HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress. Responsibilities include administrative tasks such as daily census reporting, revenue cycle management, and patient surgery scheduling. Also obtaining authorizations from the insurance companies as required. Manage inventory of medical supplies and stock exam rooms with appropriate supplies.
Occasional clinical tasks include maintaining patient’s electronic medical records, preparing patients for examination, taking vitals and record patient’s health history.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required, completion of an accredited medical assistance certification program
2 years working in management in the medical field
General surgery experience preferred but not required
Must be detail oriented and highly organized
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner always
Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures
Must always be able to maintain confidentiality
Computer Skills:
Must be PC literate
Experience in Word, Excel, and Outlook
