What you will do
- Serve as the technical leader on the business team by : Mentoring less experienced engineers on design practices, unit health monitoring, and troubleshooting Provide off-hours support of abnormal and non-routine operations, including unit Turnarounds Aiding in the development of long term vision and strategy for product line improvements Organizing and designing plant testing and product trials Serve as a senior resource either serving as or working with supervisors on the team to set clear objectives, and ensure priorities are aligned for the technical team Influence others and drive toward solutions without direct authority
- Work in a team environment with other engineering disciplines, operations, and mechanical personnel and interface with corporate technology support Ability to interface with 3rd party vendors (cost optimizations as well as developing / driving solutions)
- Serve as process safety resource on business team leading Hazard and Operability Reviews (HAZOPs) and Risk Assessments by developing closure plans and strategies for identified risks Lead / support incident investigations as technical lead
- Provide support for developing and implementing various capital projects to drive margin or mitigate SHE risk
- Provide assistance in the field during plant startups, shutdowns or upsets
- Demonstrating courage of conviction to drive healthy tension for both business team and corporate technology support to promote fit for purpose outcome
About you
Skills and Qualifications
- Chemical Engineering
- 10 years of experience in fuels / chemicals manufacturing roles specifically with exposure to Utilities and Offsites.
Strong exposure to tanks, pump skids, temporary facilities, boiler / steam generators, GTGs, etc
Preferred Qualifications / Experience
- Process design experience
- Familiarity with advanced control strategies / optimization software
- Working knowledge of RBI practices (corrosion damage mechanisms / mitigations, saltation, etc)
- Risk assessment and HAZOP experience
- Understanding of safety relief limits (modelling and evaluations)
- Demonstrated understanding of modelling software (PROII, ASPEN, etc)
- Kinetic Modelling (SOL, KBC Profimatics, etc)
