Lab Technician

Qualifications:

• We’re looking for an individual who is familiar with production or manufacturing settings using basic chemical solutions.
• Ideally, this individual will have a strong desire to learn.
• At least 1 college level chemistry course with a background in chemistry, materials science, physics, or engineering.
• 2 years working experience in a production/manufacturing environment or laboratory setting.  Experience handling/mixing reagents and solutions.
• Developed understanding of general chemistry and laboratory safety.
• Excellent note taking, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Extremely focused when measuring chemicals and making process solutions.
• Ability to operate simple laboratory testing and measuring equipment.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Computer Software knowledge (MS Word, Excel, Power Point).
• Exceptional decision-making and judgement skills.
• Optical or lens experience not required but a strong plus.
• Bilingual Spanish not needed buy a strong plus.
• Able to work legally in the US.

Responsibilities

• Preparing lenses, chemicals, and equipment for daily production of lens coating lab.
• Maintaining clean and organized the lab spaces, storage rooms, and related spaces.
• Test solutions before and after each daily production run.
• Properly sort, label, and store chemicals for each production run.
• Assist in keeping the Chemical Inventory up to date.
• Perform a variety of responsible and technical duties related to the daily production of lens coating lab.
• Troubleshoots processes and makes recommendations or alters protocols to improve procedures.
• Designs and implements standard operating procedures to ensure recordkeeping requirements are met.
• Prepares basic reports.
• Troubleshooting and participate in root cause analysis.

Full-time: Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm.

Pay rate: $18/hr.
