What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispensing Optician position at eyes inc.?
Looking for an experienced, outgoing and friendly optician for a growing, private optometry practice, where outstanding customer service is the forefront of everything we do. Applicant must be willing to be crossed trained and ready to jump in and help with both front desk and technician positions on a daily basis. At least two years experience in a fast paced optical environment, outstanding written and oral communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, excellent customer service, ability to multi-task, work quickly and accurately while maintaining a positive patient experience and a high level of professionalism and self-motivation.
Experience is preferred but not required.
Optical Responsibilities: (not limited to)
- Ability to educate patients
- Assist patients in selecting eyewear
- Assess patient’s needs/wants based on prescription, facial features, lifestyle and occupation (frames, lens type, coatings, etc.)
- Prepare and send work order to lab
- Inspect final product and notify patient when glasses are in
- Maintain inventory and displays
- Schedule vendor appointments and be direct contact for frame and lens reps.
- Track inventory, sales, returns and reconcile monthly statements
- Check on status of glasses/contact lenses and notify patients when orders are in or if there are any delays
- Pull insurance authorizations, submit claims and manage patient balances
- Keep frame boards clean and organized
- Maintain necessary products and materials
- Checking office email throughout the day and addressing those emails accordingly
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
