What are the responsibilities and job description for the SECRETARY position at Facilities & Transportation?
Wareham Public Schools is seeking a full-time transportation secretary. This position is funded through the local budget and paid in accordance with the secretaries' collective bargaining agreement. This is a full-year position.
The duties of this position include:
Assist with daily operation of the transportation office and provide clerical services for the Transportation Dept.
Assist or handle assignments of bus drivers, bus routes, vehicles, and substitutes for morning and afternoon shifts.
Maintain bus rider assignment records and appropriate student records as needed.
Prepare correspondence, memorandums, forms, requisitions, and reports for transportation office
Compile pertinent data to prepare various required state and local reports
Maintain bus incident reports and accident/injury reports.
Assist in keeping up-to-date files for all department employees including driver certification, licensing, and physical exam records.
Coordinate with Student Services and Out of District Department
Dispatch drivers and vehicles and communicate with them using a telephone and two-way radio.
Input student and staff information in PowerSchool, Frontline/Aesop, and other related software
Notify drivers, parents, and school personnel of any changes in a student’s bus service, such as an address change, change in pick-up and drop-off location, change in time or bus change.
Comply with all district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
Proficient keyboarding and file maintenance skills.
Strong communication skills
