Summary Position Description
Manage activities of the manufacturing and production operations. Lead, inspire and motivate production employees directly and through subordinate supervisors to deliver on time delivery of top-quality products to satisfy demanding customer requirements in a safe and productive manner. Ensure the planning of equipment, parts, supplies and trained personnel are available to meet current production demands while leading continuous improvement throughout the operation to meet the needs of the business.
Essential Job Duties
Build and maintain a culture of safety, manage safety processes and risk reduction for manufacturing operations.
Effectively build and foster a high performing team through positive employee relations.
Direct and manage all production activities with the supervisory staff of multiple departments to safely me et outcomes on quality requirements, on-time delivery goals, and cost improvement targets.
Plan and manage appropriate levels of staffing, training, equipment, direct materials, tooling, and supplies to support current and future production schedules.
Manages and reports on the KPI’s for the manufacturing process.
Work closely with Engineering, Product Management and Quality departments to execute successful new product introductions.
Oversee the Manufacturing Engineers to align ongoing technical support and provide continuous improvement contributions for existing and new products and processes.
Develop and carry out capital projects to improve risk reduction (for both safety and business continuity), product cost reductions, improved quality, and support business growth needs.
Provide optimized manufacturing process designs, workflows, and production cell layouts through Lean methodologies such as kaizen, 5S, single-piece-flow, Kanban, etc.
Contribute to the quality program, including corrective action, preventive action, and internal audits.
Ensures an effective problem-solving process with the supervisory and union teams, to prevent and address grievances in a positive manner.
Adhere to and uphold all Fairbanks Scales policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications – Required qualifications to effectively perform the job. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. (Additional requirements may be designated by position.)
This position requires a bachelor's degree or combination of education and direct experience.
Must have at least ten years of directly related manufacturing experience.
Must have five years of supervisory experience of manufacturing staff.
Demonstrated continuous improvement experience through Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with this position.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products – specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Critical thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and external contacts.
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
General manufacturing environment. Exposed to high noise levels.
