Payroll Specialist

As a payroll specialist you will be responsible for processing non-exempt payroll in the US and exempt payroll Canada. In this position you will work closely with the accounting and the people team to ensure payroll is processed timely and accurately, while also ensuring adherence to company and federal regulations. Other duties include collecting and maintaining employee data, and assisting the payroll department in it’s growth. This is an ideal role for someone who wants to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, data-driven environment.

 

As a Payroll Specialist You Will

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for non-exempt employees across the US and Canada
  • Process semi-monthly payroll for exempt employees for Canada
  • Manage timesheets ensuring PTO, overtime, sick pay, COVID sick pay and holiday pay is processed and paid accurately
  • Manage payroll activities such as tracking bonuses, processing and recording leave of absence payments, and onboarding non-exempt new hires and exempt Canada new hires
  • Ensure compliance in Canada is met including submitting ROE’s, and processing T4’s
  • Prepare month-end journal entries
  • Serve as a strong partner with People team to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance is met
  • Ensure that all Canada monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax filings are met, and all local statutory payroll and fringe benefit reporting requirements are met
  • Assist with other accounting/payroll projects as needed

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years experience of payroll process experience
  • Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now
  • Knowledge of Canada federal wage, tax, and overtime laws
  • You are resourceful and not afraid to roll up your sleeves
  • You are a team player and enjoy working with your peers while also having fun doing it
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise utmost discretion
  • Extreme attention to detail, and proficient with time management and organization
  • Experience working with Microsoft Excel
