Position Available: Full-Time Communications Specialist

Salary: Starting wage is 95% of base pay, upon completion of probation, pay is $21.03 per hour

Duties: Under general supervision, perform communications for emergency services, to include taking complaints, acquiring information from computers and other sources. Provide emergency dispatch services by answering 911 calls and giving pre-arrival instructions as needed. Maintains in-house records of property, warrants, arrests, complaints, accidents and citations. Applicants must be willing to work various shifts, holidays, overtime and weekends

Education and Experience Required:

• High School diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age
• Citizen of the United States
• Possess a valid Iowa driver's license
• Resident of the State of Iowa or willing to relocate to Iowa
• Possess normal hearing
• Ability to multi-task
• Free of drug and alcohol addiction
• Free of felony convictions and aggravated misdemeanor convictions
• Possess good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation.

Examination Method:

1) Application Process: Application must be on file

2) Oral Interview: Applicants passing the oral exam will be subject to a thorough background investigation.

3) Background Investigation: Applicants passing the background investigation will be recommended to the Chief of Police for placement on the Communications Specialist eligibility list, which is valid for one year.
