The Nursing Manager leads nursing practice and patient care operations in collaboration with and accountable to the Nursing Director, this includes: nursing practice, quality and safety, regulatory compliance, finance and other operational accountabilities.
About this department:
This is a tiered float pool with staff skilled and trained to care for: observation, med-surg, intermediate, and critical care level of care patients throughout different departments at the hospital. The staff on this team are very dynamic and capable of caring for highly specialized surgical, procedural, and medical patients. Staff undergo specific training and competencies depending on what tier they work in within the float pool.

Responsibilities Job Description
Job Expectations:
· Leads day-to-day operations of assigned area(s) to ensure support of the mission, vision, values and goals of the organization.
· Plans, coordinates and evaluates patient care activities including staffing, resource management, quality and safety, regulatory compliance, and financial management.
· Runs equipment inventory and supply management within operational budget.
· Accountable for capacity management to promote patient flow.
· Develops, implements, monitors and evaluates the quality improvement initiatives.
· Responsible for human resources management to achieve quality service and positive employee relations.
· Ensures compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
· Advocates for patient, family and staff needs.
· Drive improvement activities that promote patient centered care and positive customer experience.
· In partnership the Nursing Practice and Education team assure that evidence based/standard process clinical care is being delivered.
· Ensures staff compliance in areas of job requirements, education and clinical competency.
· Works with Nurse Director to establish goals and objectives.
· Promotes a culture of high employee engagement, professional development, nursing education and research.
· Partners with interprofessional team members across the continuum of care to achieve organizational outcomes.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Required
Education
· Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. If Bachelor’s degree is not in nursing must have a Master’s degree is nursing
Experience
· Four Years nursing experience, at least two of which is in a formal or informal (charge, lead, preceptor) leadership role.
License/Certification/Registration
· Licensed Registered Nurse. Ability to obtain Minnesota nursing license at time of hire.
· BLS certification
Preferred
Education
· Master’s Degree in Nursing
License/Certification/Registration
· ANCC or AONL Certification
