Current mortgage loan origination experience is REQUIRED.)

 

Essential Job Functions-Description:

 

·   Community Loan Officer

·   Qualifies customers, submits applications, and facilitates essential communication between parties throughout the process.

·   Takes mortgage application and submits loan applications to processing

·   Advises customers on the mortgage loans that are appropriate for their individual financial circumstances.

·   Directs focus on originating residential mortgage loans to consumers in underserved communities.

·   Increases mortgage loan volume, primarily focusing on underserved communities, through effective selling.

·   Promotes Fairway’s efforts and generates residential mortgages in underserved communities.

·   Represents Fairway at educational seminars, workshops, and housing programs with state and local, and non-profit housing organizations.

·   Structures loan to comply with acceptable lending practices and Federal regulations.

·   Complies with all appropriate company policies and regulatory guidelines.

·   Develops relationships with nonprofit housing groups, state and local housing offices, and community-based affordable housing organizations.

·   Responsible for community outreach in underserved communities.

·   Teaches financial literacy classes, first-time homebuyer classes, etc. to all types of customers from the financially savvy or inexperienced.

Required Experience

  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast paced and changing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively managing relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrated experience producing accurate and detailed work on multiple projects under time pressure.

 

Additional Experience Requirements

  • SAFE Act Compliant and mortgage loan originator license in the state in which loans are being originated
  • Demonstrated experience in retail loan origination / sales preferred, including: | 2 years of recent loan origination experience | Consistent source of referral-based business from realtors, builders, attorneys, financial professionals, etc. | Proven loan origination in the last 2 consecutive years
  • Demonstrated experience using available information to make sound business decisions
  • Demonstrated experience with attention to detail, written and oral communication, multi-tasking, managing a loan pipeline (preferred), and working in a team atmosphere adhering to tight deadlines
  • Prior mortgage experience in developing external business relationships.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of a variety of loan programs including Conventional, FHA, USDA, VA and secondary marketing guidelines to manage complex loan level issues.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of customer service and intrapersonal best practices.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of mortgage-related terms, such as escrow, taxes, closing documents and insurance.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of mortgage lending processes, procedures and regulations.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of state and federal real estate lending regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of building quality client relationships

Additional Knowledge and Skills

·       Extensive knowledge and understanding of building quality client relationships

·       Demonstrated knowledge and experience with FHA, VA and conventional underwriting guidelines for all loan investors

·       Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with community-based nonprofits, community groups, consumer advocacy groups, and civic/professional groups

·       Deep knowledge of state, local and county down-payment-assistance programs

·       Knowledgeable on agency and investor regulations and guidelines

·       Sales acumen

 

Minimum Education Preferred

  • High School or GED
  • Loan Originators must have an active mortgage loan originator license sponsored by Fairway Independent

Additional Education Requirements

  • Loan Originators must have an active mortgage loan originator license sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation through the NMLS for every state in which they conduct business before representing themselves as a mortgage loan originator.

Physical Environment

  • This position is primarily an in office position. Normal office environment.

Travel

  • Local travel may be required for company or career-related meetings, programs and/or events.
