Last Summer, we opened the doors to our new home in New Castle, Delaware on a 27-acre property, complete with walking trails and gardens. Faithful Friends Animal Society is a comprehensive, nonprofit animal welfare organization that serves 18,000 pets and 24,000 people a year through programs and services that focus on the most vulnerable. For 23 years, Faithful Friends has led reforms in animal welfare that have become the building blocks for a comprehensive, humane animal welfare system in Delaware. The number of pets and people we serve each year continues to increase as the demand for our services continues to grow.

This is a high-volume, fast-paced environment where our mission is to provide superior medical treatment, high volume spay/neuter and emergency surgeries for our shelter and public animals.

Veterinary technician experience is required in:

  • Restraining pets for exams and minor procedures
  • Handling dogs of all sizes, feral and non-feral cats, and fractious pets
  • Performing routine procedures such as vaccinations, blood draws, and wound cleaning
  • Performing laboratory tests including bloodwork
  • Administering oral and injectable medications
  • Educating staff, fosters and owners about pet care and treatment plans
  • Preparing pets for and assisting with surgical procedures
  • Monitoring anesthesia during surgeries and recovery of animals afterwards
  • Maintaining patient records
  • Independently follow treatment plans set by veterinarians
  • Intake, vaccinate, and evaluate new dogs and cats being brought into shelter
  • Follow laws and procedures for shelter practice

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
