The Superintendent of Schools announces the following position within the Fall River Public School System:
Position: Athletic Trainer
Job Description: The position of Athletic Trainer is the primary caregiver providing treatment and rehabilitative attention to high school athletes. Services associated with this position include assessment, preventive regimens, evaluation of injuries, documenting treatments and responses, responsive immediate treatment and care, referrals to health care providers, coordination of follow up treatment for athletic injuries, and communication with athletes and families as well as appropriate coaches.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Provide athletic trainer services to student athletes participating in athletic programs and interscholastic athletic programs from Fall River Schools
- Adheres to MIAA and Fall River district polices regarding participation and eligibility to play with respect to any medical or safety criteria.
- Attend assigned athletic events according to the schedule developed by Athletic Director.
- Monitors safety conditions of the site for the athletes during use
- Attends screening events, presents at educational events or workshops for athletes, coaches and families regarding injuries, concussion protocols and risk as needed.
- Models and promotes injury prevention and safety techniques and strategies
- Provides rehabilitation consult, management and treatment for injuries
- Assists in rehabilitation for injuries to student-athletes; advises on injury prevention
- Acts as the first responder and resource for injury assessment and attention for student-athletes; collaborates on referrals where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records of any injuries sustained and any treatment delivered to athletes.
- Perform relevant professional tasks as assigned by Athletic Director or Administration
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field from an accredited program
- Current License as an Athletic Trainer from the state, BOC certification
- Emergency Cardiac Care certification
- Ability to work in collaboration with physicians and healthcare providers
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills
The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is an acceptable alternative to that qualification. If the Superintendent intends to waive a qualification, such intent will be shared with the Fall River School Committee.
