Counselor
Job Description: Description: The Counselor provides a full range of services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, including confidential supportive counseling and support services. The Counselor provides individual counseling, group counseling, and crisis intervention services. The focus of counseling is determined by the client, and for children, by the needs presented by the child’s guardian or case worker. Typically, this counseling consists of providing education and facilitating a process of change within the client.
Education/Experience Qualifications:
· Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field
· Licensure in Maryland LMSW, LCSW-C, LGPC, or LCPC. Or the ability to obtain license within 90 days.
· Pass criminal background check
· Ability to work in crisis situations
· Ability to apply knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence, sexual victimization, and related issues
Specific Duties:
· Provide individual, group, and crisis counseling to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in a safe, supportive environment. Utilize assessment methods to help determine client’s needs of resources and provide community options.
· Advocate on behalf of clients with community systems, victims’ rights, and the general population, including prevention education via presentations and social media.
· Be familiar with protection orders and peace orders
· Compile any data or reports requested and maintain documentation in a timely manner.
· Assist the Executive Director with various projects, including grant writing, reporting, and written policies

Pay: $49,400.00 - $50,800.00 per year
