Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Optometric Technician to join our team. As an Optometric Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting the optometrist in providing exceptional eye care services to our patients. Responsibilities:
- Perform preliminary tests and screenings on patients, including visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision tests
- Obtain and record patient medical history, including current medications and allergies
- Assist with contact lens fittings and teach patients proper insertion, removal, and care techniques
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as tonometry, oct, fundus photos and visual field testing
- Prepare patients for examinations by dilating pupils and administering eye drops as directed by the optometrist
- Manage medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmology, optical systems, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Familiarity with pediatric eye care is highly desirable
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems for documentation purposes
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy
