Department: Behavioral Health and Wellness 

Reports To: Peer Community Supervisor 

Start Date: TBD 

Employment Class: Full-time, Year-round 

Pay Status: Non-exempt 

Hours Per Week: 40 

Language: Proficiency in English and Spanish Required

Location: Summit County, CO (Hybrid schedule, 3 days in office required) 

Pay: Starting range is $22 – $22.88 per hour 


Job summary: 

The Peer Community Coordinator reports to the Peer Community Supervisor in the Mental Health Department. The Coordinator is responsible for collaborating with community partners to promote the program and recruit eligible participants. In addition to administrating the contract terms and agreed upon services to be completed by peer support contractors, (referred to as “Compañeras for ALMA contractors),” the Coordinator is an active participant in program development. The Coordinator will largely be responsible to grow the different branches of Peer programming as needed in the community. They will also be the main back-up support for the Peer Community Supervisor.

Primary duties: 

  • Grows and expands the ALMA programs in the areas of 1. Newcomer/Welcoming Program, 2. Extension Visits, and 3. Youth Expansion (ages 16 )  
  • Audit all data in Formstack & Salesforce including; visits with clients using a systematic reporting structure, completes and submits monthly reports, and maintains confidential data  
  • Conducts outreach and education about the ALMA Programs and the Latino, Spanish-Speaking Men’s Program  
  • Facilitates opportunities for contractors to access optional support and resources provided in/for the community 
  • Oversees bi-monthly support groups for the Peer Community, Program Graduations, and other Peer events 
  • Provides backup and support for the Peer Community Supervisor  
  • Will maintain client confidentiality at all times 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Attends required trainings including, but not limited to: Strengthening Families and the Protective Factors Framework, Motivational Interviewing, Vicarious Trauma, Mental Health First Aid, Question Persuade Refer, etc. 
  • Uses Motivational Interviewing techniques and a “strengths-based” approach to collaboratively develop a relationship of trust with the client 
  • Some travel within Summit County for community outreach or client support, when COVID protocols allow 
  • Coordinates with community agencies to improve access to services and to effectively refer clients to resources 
  • Collaborates with the Mental Health Team to provide connection to mental health resources 
  • Works with the Leadership Team to develop systems related to program design and oversight including grant reporting, data auditing, monthly invoicing, and ongoing program evaluation 

Requirements

The person we are looking for will: 

  • Compassionate, empathetic, trauma-informed and culturally responsive, especially with people in distress 
  • Trustworthy and able to maintain confidentiality 
  • Reliable, flexible, and resourceful 
  • Independently motivated to manage a caseload, community meetings, and follow up responsibilities 

General requirements of the position include: 

  • Fluent Spanish proficiency and identifies culturally as Latina or Hispanic is required 
  • Prior experience working in the mental health or human services field preferred 
  • Effectively demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, ideally in English and Spanish 
  • An understanding of, connection to, and ability to effectively communicate and engage with community members, especially the local Hispanic/Latina population 
  • Lived experience with mental and/or emotional health challenges preferred, in order to interact with participants in a peer-to-peer model 
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation 
  • Pass a background check  
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines 
  • Computer skills and related software applications, including e-mail
