What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dietary Cook position at Family of Caring?
The purpose of this position is to prepare and provide food service to residents’ in a cost-efficient manner to safely meet residents’ need in compliance with federal, state and local requirements. Responsibilities for the Cook position: • Prepare residents’ diets in accordance with the diet orders and daily menus. • Assist the Culinary Director to determine the amount and type of food necessary to prepare the daily menus. • Monitor use of food to eliminate waste. • Stock food in compliance with dietary policies and procedures. • Handle and prepare food in sanitary manner. Using barrier when handling cooked foods i.e. gloves, hair cover-up. • Prepare food, which is palatable and appetizing in appearance. • Follow oral and written directions. • Keeps work area clean and sanitize work surface after food preparation. • Follow written menus and recipes and spread sheets. • Understand and be able to prepare therapeutic diets. • Be responsible for avoiding food waste. • Assume responsibility for meeting meal schedules. • Work cooperatively with food service staff and other departments. • Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality. • Attend in-service training programs for food service employees. • Perform other related duties as direct by his/her supervisor. • Perform all duties assigned in an effective, timely and professional manner. • Observe infection control procedure. • Follow Residents’ Rights policies at all times. • Assume accountability for all data contained in the employees’ handbook. • Participates in special event meals and activities. • Oversees dietary department in the absence of the food service director/supervisor. • Follow appropriate dress code; conduct yourself in a caring, courteous and professional manner. • All other duties assigned by your supervisor. Qualifications: • High school graduate or equivalency preferred. • 1-year experience in food service, preferably in Healthcare facilities and cooking. • Must have a genuine interest and desire to work with the senior population. • Must be able to lift 20lbs
Hours are 5:00am to 1:30pm or 7:30am to 3:30pm
Starting at $18.00 Per hour
Must be Fully Vaccinated AND Willing to get Flu vaccine
