POSITION OBJECTIVE: Work is performed according to established guidelines, Family Pathways Policies and Procedures and general instructions from the Shelter Manager. The Shelter Assistant Manager has some latitude to exercise independent judgment within the scope of established policies and procedures. Shelter Assistant Manager will supervise the delivery of emergency crisis intervention and shelter services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault; oversee daily shelter operations including day to day supervision of shelter advocates and insure accurate data collection. Work is routinely checked for quality and a yearly performance evaluation is completed. The Shelter Supervisor's work site is the shelter, however, will be expected to travel as needed.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations - 50%
- With the Shelter Manager, recruit, screen, orient, train, supervise, maintain regular contact, recognize, evaluate, and model standards for advocates and interns.
- Ensure resource directories for staff use are comprehensive and easily accessible for advocates.
- Maintain list and shop for shelter needs (food, supplies etc.).
- Provide transportation for clients as needed.
- Substitute (fill-in) for shelter advocates as needed. Available evenings and weekends.
- Ensure shelter advocates maintain accurate, up-to-date client statistics.
- Maintain records and develop reports as required.
Personnel Management - 35%
- Assure services provided by shelter advocates are high quality and reflect agency philosophy and standards.
- Provide leadership and modeling of positive attitudes to ensure an inclusive, diverse, and respectful environment.
- With the Advocacy Manager, ensure on-call rotation is maintained and available to shelter advocates.
- Maintain shelter advocate manual, roster, hours, and calendar.
Strategic Planning- 10%
- Establish and maintain working relationships with community members.
- Professionally represent the organization to clients, donors, venders and the public.
- Recruit financial donations as opportunities arise.
- Participate in agency fundraising activities as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Administration (5%)
- Complete documentation to ensure compliance with agency standards and funder expectations. Complete necessary electronic entries and all agency required forms in a timely fashion.
- Comply with funder, state and federal rules, laws and regulations.
- Complete agency forms to document critical incidents or injury, notify supervisor immediately.
- Adhere to and promote Family Pathways organizational, program and personnel policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned and work as a team member with staff, volunteers, and administration.
Qualifications:
- Trained in a system of care approach to assist families in accessing and receiving services and support.
- Basic computer skills, excellent verbal, and written skills, with the ability to speak publicly in a courteous and professional manner. Willingness to learn new tasks, accept change and bring about new ideas.
- Knowledge of domestic violence and related advocacy, shelter operations, and Minnesota Data Practices Acts.
- Ability to work independently while also able to use a "team approach" rather than an adversarial approach to resolve problems. Ability to maintain openness to different cultures, lifestyles, personalities, and work with individuals of differing ages and backgrounds.
- Reliable transportation, insurance, and clean driving record.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
