Job Description
The Head of Enterprise Modeling Operations is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of Enterprise Models software applications in line with software engineering best practices and model risk management policies. The role will work with many types of models (statistical, econometric, machine learning) and create the appropriate development and implementation standards for each. He/She will serve as a center of excellence for groups outside of Enterprise Models that need assistance bringing their models to production. This role is responsible for supporting the development of modeling products by leading the modeling product management Center of Excellence, project management capabilities and modeling implementation activities.
This individual will work with her/his group of quantitative engineers and the Information Technology team to design and maintain the appropriate infrastructure for deployment of models and ensure access to research and production data sets as well as play a lead role in setting the model implementation strategy for the firm. This leader will be critical in the development of the future state modeling architecture and processes as part of Fannie Mae’s model transformation efforts.

- Build and maintain enterprise-wide modeling applications to solve business problems; Support and enhance existing models to ensure optimal performance and resiliency
- Works in partnership with Enterprise Modeling leadership to develop the roadmaps and the implementation plans for existing models and models in development
- Ensures model governance and risk management practices are a well-managed foundation and priority to enable reliable models for business use.
- Promote development and implementation of the modeling lifecycle to ensure that new models and enhancements to existing models are managed in compliance with our policy and regulatory guidelines
- Promote the development and implementation of the modeling lifecycle to ensure that new modeling applications and enhancements to existing modeling applications are managed in compliance with our policy and regulatory guidelines
- Keenly focused on operational excellence and compliance with software development best practices. Is a leading voice, in partnership with modeling community, IT and risk to develop the future state modeling environments and processes
Lead the model product management center of excellence to ensure all modeling applications are meeting business users’ needs - Partner with Information Technology organization to develop and maintain the infrastructure and environments necessary for efficient deployments of many model types (e.g., statistical, econometric, AI/ML)
- Recruit, retain, and grow required talent with a balance between technology, product, data and commercial-minded business expertise
Qualifications
THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
- 10 or more years of experience with modeling application development and deployment
- Master’s or PHD in field of physics, mathematics, statistics, engineering
- Experience managing large, complex financial applications
- Significant experience in software application development; cloud engineering
- Experience with machine learning operations (MLOps)
- Executive management and leadership skills to mobilize and empower teams to achieve, and build and execute on any and all modeling functions
- Track record of execution focus, strong prioritization, and planning capabilities
- Proven ability to assimilate quickly into new environments by absorbing information that creates a deep understanding of process, strategic goals, and objectives
- Relationship management skills to collaborate and partner with lead decision makers
- Outstanding ability to drive and implement change initiatives and execute organizational change management at the executive level
- Strong track record of leading, coaching, developing and motivating multi-discipline and multi-cultural teams
- A calm demeanor and temperament to provide a stabilizing influence for the management team
- Ability to appreciate Fannie Mae’s history and critical role in the housing market, while serving the best interests of the American government and taxpayers.
