Maintenance Supervisor

SUMMARY: Coordinate and exercise functional responsibility for planning, control, integration and completion of maintenance activities for production maintenance, facilities maintenance and utilities maintenance (boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment and support equipment).   Supervise and oversee daily activities of maintenance and utilities personnel to maximize production and facilities efficiencies.  Administer Work Order maintenance systems, including scheduling of preventative maintenance activities for production equipment, facilities equipment, building and grounds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following.  Other duties may be assigned

• Direct and supervise maintenance employees in accordance with plant guidelines.  Coordinate specific work assignments and establish work priorities to maximize production capabilities (planned preventative maintenance) and minimize equipment downtime. 

• Maintain and review equipment and preventative maintenance records to identify and avoid maintenance problems/equipment downtime trends. Forecast and identify repair projects to minimize production interruptions.

• Supervise maintenance of equipment repairs and on-going preventative maintenance programs.
• Ensure all Work Orders or completed correctly and on schedule.

• Schedules the safety and job training of all direct reports.  Motivate and train employees toward safe work practices, high productivity and high quality of work.  Ensure compliance with all required safety regulations and requirements.  Maintain proper safety conditions of equipment and of company assets. 

• Develop positive relationships with contractors and vendors. Assist Maintenance Manager and Manufacturing Engineering with new equipment specifications and related vendor issues.

• Administer and support plant guidelines and policies for the Maintenance Technicians.  Demonstrate consistent administration of plant and department policies and work procedures.  Provide constructive feedback to Maintenance Technicians, including corrective action as necessary.  Conduct periodic performance evaluations and identifies performance development opportunities for Maintenance Technicians. 

• Maintain high morale and quality focus among maintenance and utilities personnel, and manage activities to support the plant’s union-free status.  Set the example for leadership with the department through demonstrated effective communications and adherence to company expectations.

• Provide input to Maintenance Manager concerning continuous improvement activities related to maximizing production capabilities and minimizing the cost of non-conformance.

• Participate in staffing activities including interviewing and candidate selection processes.  Determine work schedules for overtime and projects and manage vacation schedules of Maintenance Technicians as required.  Verify time and attendance records of crew.

• Lead team meetings.  Maintain frequent meetings to provide information on plant issues, project status updates and performance against KPI’s.

• Maintain an organized, clean and safe work area.  Adhere to company’s GMP and HACCP requirements.

• Ensure all work is performed and completed in conformance with any related codes, guidelines or standards established by a manufacturer or regulating body.  Ensure repairs and maintenance to all equipment and facilities are performed in a neat workmanship-like manner.    

• Maintain proper safety conditions of equipment and of Company assets.

• Comply with all standard safety practices, safety guidelines, and all Company guidelines and policies.

• Provide input on plant issues as requested.

• Identify and communicate all issues and/or problems in a proactive manner to the Maintenance Manager.

• Work a minimum 40 hour week schedule. Flexible shifts and/or overtime plus weekends as required.

• Demonstrate good attendance.
