BAKER

Farinolio is a Tuscan bakery-cafe in Westfield, New Jersey focused on the simple pleasure of enjoying well-crafted food. We provide authentic, high-quality baked goods and meals in a welcoming, unpretentious environment inspired by the piazzas of Italy.

By partnering with food suppliers and chefs in Italy, as well as local businesses and farms, we bring together people as passionate about food as we are. We wish to deliver the best ingredients, helping us bring the taste of Tuscany to life.

This opportunity is for you if:

  • You have at least 2 years of professional experience in baking or 1 year of experience and a degree from an accredited culinary school or program.
  • You enjoy baking and cooking, but you do not want to work crazy hours in a restaurant kitchen
  • You want to be part of a fun, energized team that works hard and laughs often

As part of Farinolio team, you will receive:

  • Opportunity to learn all aspects of traditional cuisine from Tuscany and surrounding regions with focus on “schiacciata” and ‘’olio di oliva’’
  • Opportunity to learn how to prepare fresh Italian bread such as schiacciata, ciabatta and focaccia as well as pastries like crostata alla marmellata, ciambellone, torta della nonna, millefoglie and many others!
  • Ability to learn basic Italian, which is beneficial, especially if there is a desire to travel to Italy in the future
  • A 20% discount while dining at Farinolio
  • Free meals during working hours

Position activities and tasks:

● Must be available early in the morning, and on weekends.

● Execute all recipes consistently according to the recipes and standards.

● Weigh and measure ingredients.

● Prepare delicious Italian bread from scratch.

● Roll, knead, cut or shape dough to form croissants, cookies, tarts or other products.

● Set oven temperatures and monitor or modify as needed.

● Follow all policies and procedures.

● Take direction and constructive criticism well, will ask questions if need be.

● Ensure all baked goods reflect the highest standards of quality, consistency, aesthetics, and taste.

● Demonstrate safe food handling practices and follow safety procedures for using equipment and cleaning supplies. Sanitize work area during and after use.

● Responsible for fulfilling the production list, given by management, which includes all baked goods and/or prep items.
