What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouseman position at Farmers' Rice Cooperative?

DEFINITION:

This position covers a wide range of responsibilities. Responsibilities include: operating and maintaining rice dryer equipment, performing preventative maintenance on all dryers, warehouseses, seed cleaning equipment, installing, repairing and refurbishing all equipment at this facility. Must be capable of working with minimal supervision and be able to direct and instruct assisting personnel within the department. This person will report to the Plant Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

· Receive and transfer paddy or seed rice to appropriate bin or storage location.

· Distinguish between different types of paddy or seed rice.

· Set up drier equipment, diverter valves and gates to process the scheduled product.

· Monitor and document paddy flow from bin to bin.

· Maintains product quality, drier sanitation standards, and production requirements.

· Operate and trouble shoot drier and/or seed cleaner, reporting problems to Plant Supervisor or Plant Manager.

· Complete reports and required documentation that details production, quality, sanitation and equipment status.

· Understand the function of the equipment and work with Maintenance Department as needed to ensure equipment is operating efficiently and properly.

· Operates forklifts as necessary.

· Operates loading equipment i.e.: scoop loaders, skid steer and bazookas.

· Assists with shipping orders for paddy or seed, assuring that the customer receives ordered product and/or service.

· Applies appropriate product to the rice for a variety of applications; some of which are dust control, pest control, fungicide and other products to seed.

· Work within and enforce OSHA and Company safety rules.

· Participate in company safety training sessions and monthly safety meetings.

· Perform Food Safety and Safety Audits as needed.

· Inspect the appearance and safety of the drier operation and seed cleaner when working at this location, ensuring policies and procedures are being adhered to.

· Maintain cleanliness of work areas inside of control rooms, driers and surrounding outside areas.

· Check baghouse, empty and document at the appropriate time.

· Report to Plant Supervisor or Plant Manager about any broken, missing, or damaged equipment.

· Perform duties within established Quality Assurance Guidelines.

· Communicate with and direct incoming and outgoing truck drivers.

· Maintain clean outside grounds around driers.

· Maintain accurate inventories of paddy bins/seed bins following established procedures.

· Work with all departments to ensure high quality standards are met.

· Assist company employees as needed.

· Must be able to work overtime, weekends, holidays and rotating schedules as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, MSDS, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals. Must have good grammar and ability to write routine reports. Must have the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; ability to calculate percentages and volume.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have, or can obtain a forklift operator’s license. Current valid California Drivers License required. Must be insurable and have clean Motor Vehicle Report. Certificate of insurance required when using personal vehicle for company business.

Other Qualifications: Must be able to work overtime as necessary. Have the willingness to learn new processes as needed.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus. Must have the ability to climb and work in high locations or confined spaces.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. Work is performed in a high dust environment. Workers must often work in tight, confined claustrophobic spaces. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat.
