What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Financial Reporting position at Farouk Systems Inc?
The Director of Financial Reporting will manage and maintain the cost accounting system which provides financial controls directed towards timely and accurate reporting of product costs. Develops and analyzes forecasts and annual budget. Plans and analyzes manufacturing operation; develops performance measurement criteria for manufacturing processes; maintains product costing information.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop product costing methodologies utilizing cost models (bill of materials). Analyze data to determine costs by product line
- Establish parameters for measuring operating performance
- Work with all departments to plan, budget, track, monitor and analyze costs on capital, major expenditure and research developmental projects
- Plan and direct the implementation of product cost control; create cost data collection processes to provide accurate costing information on real time basis
- Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided determine effects on costs. Closely track material costs and associated freight charges and verify pricing trends with Purchasing
- Maintain an ongoing expertise of company’s business operations and provides direction to optimize company’s product inventory and material stock
- Support year-end audit and interact with outside auditors on year end closings. Participate in regularly scheduled plant physical inventories. Travel to local plant site to verify accuracy and reliability of product cost information. Support operational audits as required
- Preparation of commission, rebate and royalty statements.
- Assist Marketing and/or other departments in analyzing costs for pricing strategies
- Work with Controller on month end closing activities and prepare monthly production and operational cost reports and forecasts
- Develop and analyze forecasts and annual budgets
- Assist various personnel in determining proper transactions through accounting system, as needed
- Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services
- Prepare financial management reports on a scheduled or as-needed basis. Handle special assignments as required
- Assist in approval of accounts payable checks
- Learn all functions of the Controller to serve as backup to the position
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- Must have CPA, CMA, or MBA designation
- 5 years of experience in a manufacturing company
- Management experience preferred
Skills & Abilities:
- Must have extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Must be proficient with PC applications and computerized, integrated accounting systems
- SAP Cost experience required.
