Position Summary

This is a new position to join our growing team! The Drawback and Reconciliation Specialist will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the drawback and reconciliation processes.

This includes, but is not limited to writing, reporting, auditing, billing, preparing, and communicating with customers to ensure the drawback and reconciliation procedures are completed timely and in compliance. As part of the Trade Compliance Team, the Specialist may also be tasked with assisting with Post Summary Corrections, Protests, CBP28/29’s, 520D claims, Liquidated Damages Cases, HTSUS classification requests and special projects as time permits.

Key Responsibilities (Supervisory/Materials/Information)

  • Responsible to be the SME (Subject Matter Expert) for the complete drawback and reconciliation vetting, analysis, entry filing and underlying regulatory and compliance processes and procedures associated with these specialized services.
  • Generate periodic reports for customer communication to secure the required information to file drawback and reconciliation entries in accordance with customer and regulatory timelines.
  • Ensure all underlying flagged entry summaries have their reconciliation entry filed on a timely basis.
  • Responsible to run ACE reports as an audit measure to ensure all flagged entries are captured within the Customs Management selection process.
  • Responsible for transmitting the entries ACE to CBP. This includes troubleshooting rejects and fixing errors until the entry is accepted error free.
  • Document process/SOP and any changes that arise as a result of CBP regulatory changes in ACE
  • Ability to communicate with customers verbally and in writing.
  • Perform research as necessary to assist customers in answering inquiries about drawback and reconciliation.
  • Prepare and file drawback applications and complete the review and analysis of drawback full desk reviews.
  • Support the marketing of these services and participate in discussions with prospects and customers.
  • Perform other duties that may be required as part of the Trade Compliance Team as well as providing general regulatory advice in response to customer and governmental inquiries.
  • Participate and assist with special projects on an as needed basis.

Education and Experience

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Ideal candidate will have 3 – 5 years of general brokerage experience and knowledge of the entry process
  • Knowledge of 19CFR and HTSUS
  • Licensed Customs Broker and or US CCS designation preferred

  • Able to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment under minimal supervision with a high attention to detail
  • Must be customer service focused and strive for continuous improvements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel with the ability to manipulate, format, and sort spreadsheets, as well as other Microsoft Word documents
  • Solid problem solving fundamentals and basic math skills
  • Able to work well under time sensitive situations

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time while entering data
  • Ability to focus on computer screen and / or written materials for extended periods of time
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
  • Must work under deadlines and related stresses
  • Must be able to professionally handle various situations as they arise
