Electrical Controls Technician/Designer

PURPOSE OF POSITION

· This position will be the lead role in the design and development of Automation for new and existing business as well as equipment upgrades as a vital part of the company growth strategy.

· Some key areas of responsibility covered by the position are:

· Determine and/or assist in specifying and Integrating Electrical, Pneumatic, and Hydraulic Control Systems Hardware for Automation improvements throughout the company globally.

· Design and assist in developing the controls software for current and future equipment needs.

· Support new product development through implementing automation when possible.

· Perform reverse engineering of current production and test equipment through analysis as necessary for automation opportunities across all Business Units.

· Participate in the strategic development of goals and objectives of global automation with all business units for growth market opportunities.

Responsibilities and Measurement

R - Development and implementation of automation throughout the facility for cost savings and increased throughput.

M - ROI and capacity analysis on implemented opportunities.

R - Process improvements through consistency and standard work utilizing automation.

M - Report out overall cost reductions in high running product lines.

R - Supporting other Business Units engineering staff in improving current or new automation equipment.

M - Quarterly report out on active projects and progress to management.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION

· Management of own time. Ability to work well with other disciplines within the organization. Ability to clearly express ideas in both verbal and written form.

• Work experience: 5-7 years of proven experience in the field.
• Experience applying PLC-based programming languages to control and monitor industrial machinery and/or industrial processes.
• Experience integrating industrial devices.
• High degree of mechanical aptitude.

· Level of travel required: < 20% - focus of travel is to support all Business Units for automation needs when remote is not possible.

· Could require intermittent and long periods of sitting and/or standing.

· Periodic lifting of materials and files not to exceed 40 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year

• 8 hour shift
