We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fiber to the Home (FTTH) Splicing Technician to join our team. As an FTTH Splicing Technician, you will be responsible for performing fusion splicing and termination of fiber optic cables to ensure the seamless and reliable delivery of high-speed internet connectivity to residential customers. This role requires advanced technical knowledge of fiber optic splicing techniques, precision in execution, and a commitment to maintaining the integrity of fiber optic networks.
Responsibilities:
Fusion Splicing and Termination:
· Perform fusion splicing of fiber optic cables using fusion splicers to create low-loss, high-quality connections.
· Terminate fiber optic cables with connectors, pigtails, and splice closures using precision techniques.
· Utilize cleavers, strippers, and other tools to prepare fiber optic cables for splicing and termination.
Testing and Quality Assurance:
· Conduct comprehensive testing of spliced fiber optic connections using OTDRs, power meters, and other testing equipment to verify signal strength and quality.
· Perform quality checks on spliced fiber optic cables to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications.
· Document all splicing activities, test results, and quality assurance checks in accordance with company procedures.
Maintenance and Repair:
· Assist with the maintenance and repair of existing FTTH installations, including troubleshooting and resolving splicing-related issues.
· Identify and repair faulty splices or connections to ensure optimal network reliability and performance.
Safety and Compliance:
· Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries while working with fiber optic equipment and tools.
· Follow all applicable regulations and standards governing fiber optic splicing, including safety codes and industry best practices.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training in fiber optic splicing preferred.
Proven experience in fusion splicing and mechanical splicing of fiber optic cables.
Advanced knowledge of fiber optic splicing techniques, equipment, and procedures.
Proficiency in operating fusion splicers, cleavers, strippers, and other splicing tools and equipment.
Strong understanding of fiber optic network architectures and components.
Excellent attention to detail and precision in splicing techniques.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and splice plans.
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs).
Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
