Position Summary: The Division Machine Safety Coordinator / HSE Machinery Safety Engineer will be responsible for leading and managing machinery safety programs and procedures to achieve business goals and reduce risk to people, property, and the environment. As HSE Machinery Safety Engineer your duties also include inspection of all machines for new and existing programs, supporting supplier interactions with the program teams and evaluation of technical criteria of the completion and improvement of the NAO Machinery HSE specifications. The NAO Division HSE Coordinator / Machinery Safety Engineer will work with the NAO HSE Director, Regional HSE Managers, and Plant HSE Managers to support performance objectives, evaluating and optimizing operational performance, ensuring regulatory and company standards are upheld, and preparing operations and other related reports.
To be successful as an HSE Machinery Safety Engineer, you should be able to know and be able to apply all relevant regulatory requirements for assessing various machines and process technologies. Ultimately, a successful Machinery Safety Engineer should be able to perform efficiently in a high-pressure environment and demonstrate excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills. HSE Machinery Safety Engineer is responsible for planning, managing, and coordinating the activities of our HSE Managers in the Division manufacturing facilities.
He/she will assist the Division Director, HSE & Medical in ensuring the successful program development, maintaining budgets, and reports for senior leadership within the company.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the NAO Tech Center locations HSE activity to ensure work practices are in place.
- Manage and lead the administration of the Machine Safety compliance programs.
- Execute the Division HSE Machine Safety Program and coordinate with Plant HSE and Program Managers for successful completion of Program elements.
- Maintain current level of knowledge on applicable government, industry, and corporate guidelines.
- Serve as Certified Machine Safety Expert (CMSE) and Division Laser Safety Officer (LSO) with maintain appropriate certifications. Lead Plant Laser Safety Technicians in program application.

- Monitor employee exposure to workplace hazards and bring solutions to improve the working conditions through active workstation and task evaluations deploying company and industry standards for machine safety, ergonomics, environmental exposures, and other areas of focus as needed.
- Review and validate machinery safety specifications and equipment with program team engineers, suppliers and plants to ensure safe new equipment process and lessons learned are integrated from prior events.
- Support the various functions in the successful completion of new and revised program launches.
- Lead and/or participate in plant machinery audits and inspections and follow up on recommendations with the plants through review of facility incident report, recordkeeping and treatment files; machinery specifications programs; environmental legal & other requirements in support of the HSE Management System.
- Analyze statistical data to determine trends and corrective actions.
- Prepare and present briefings, action plans and reports as needed.
- Participate in Faurecia's HSE network and HSE reporting for the Faurecia group.
- Monitor and support plants in the reporting of HSE indicators (OSHA Injury/illness rates, Company frequency rate metrics, periodic environmental data, etc.).
- Participate in incident investigations involving machine safety failures/improvements.
- Evaluate and recommend improvement on ergonomic practices and workstation assessment.
- Participate in the design, and implementation of appropriate training programs
- Propose continuous improvement ideas in business efficiency and cost reduction
- Capitalize on knowledge and share best practices / lessons learned across the organization and within the site
- Support the leadership and commitment from top management according to the NAO environmental policy, ISO 14001 and ISO45001.

Knowledge / Skills:
- General knowledge of automotive production plant technologies
- Current U.S. or Mexican passport or ability to obtain
- Ability to travel 70%
- Proficient level of English, with French or Spanish as a plus
Education / Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Machinery Controls, Mechanical or Electrical engineering, or related field
- Certified Machine Safety Expert (CMSE) or within six months of hire
- Laser Safety Officer (LSO) or within 6 months of hire
- 5 years overall related experience with 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing facility or other industrial environment
- Working knowledge with machine guarding. supplier requirements, international regulatory requirements
