The Contractor will provide professional medical services, within the scope of medical practice as a licensed physician to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District Occupational Health Unit. This unit is located in Louisville, Kentucky in the Ronald Mazzoli Federal Building, Room 138. These medical services are for all government employees in the participating agencies and others in an emergency situation.
Services will be performed on Monday and Thursday mornings from 8:00 – 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time. This is approximately 6 hours per week, not to exceed 310 hours per year.
Education: A licensed and Board Eligible/Board Certified Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy. Experience: A combination of education, specialized training or work history to total a minimum of five (5) years of experience in an Urgent Care, Ambulatory Care or Occupational Health clinical setting. Knowledge of regulations and resources relating to occupational medicine such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Department of Defense (DoD), Department of the Army (DA) and Occupational Medicine Practice Guidelines (ACOEM). License and Certifications: Current, full, active, and unrestricted medical license in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Active and current controlled substance registration certificate number from Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Current/Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Card. Evidence of appropriate malpractice insurance.
RESPONSIBILITIES ? Perform medical evaluation, treatment initiation and coordination of a follow-up treatment plan for employees with injuries or illnesses. ? Administer comprehensive employee health maintenance and occupational medical or fit for duty examinations. ? Review post-offer (pre-screening physicals and make recommendations if limiting conditions are found by the examining physician. ? Review medical surveillance physicals and make recommendations if abnormalities are found by the examining physician. ? Provide First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in emergency situations following BLS protocols. ? Counsel employees on preventative health measures and procedures ? Chart or dictate all medical encounters in a timely manner. ? Maintain employee medical files within federal guidelines, ensuring confidentiality and privacy of health and personal information. ? Collaborate with the government nurse in the development of medical practice procedures and policies. Advise on purchases of medical equipment. ? Coordinate with the government nurse and nursing staff to provide high quality patient care in a caring and professional manner
