THE DAY-TO-DAY OF A LIFE SKILLS TEACHER - WORK READINESS INSTRUCTOR
As a Life Skills Teacher - Work Readiness Instructor with our nonprofit, you develop a curriculum and teach hard skills classes such as building maintenance or construction. You are a master facilitator, leading groups, giving assignments, tracking performance, and completing weekly reports. You are always prepared for your classes and utilize various teaching materials, including textbooks, handouts, workbooks, and web-based resources.
To keep everything organized and on track, you maintain a calendar and write weekly case notes for each job seeker. You also attend meetings each week where you discuss the progress of your clients and collaborate with your colleagues. Occasionally, you get to organize hiring fairs and presentations for job seekers. You love being part of a collaborative team of people all dedicated to helping others succeed! WHAT WE NEED IN A LIFE SKILLS TEACHER - WORK READINESS INSTRUCTOR
- Bachelor's degree in adult education, education, human relations, psychology, social work, or a related field
- Valid certification in hard skills track
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge about or experience in job development, human resources, or employer relations
- Experience in workforce development
- Knowledge about the rehabilitation field
