Key Responsibilities
- Serves as lead cook in preparing food items for the cafeteria line and special functions. Participates in menu planning and recipe selection.
- Determines serving portions and products needed to make the item. Determines proper disposition of leftovers.
- Serves as a team leader, assisting the cafeteria supervisor with coordination of workflow and function planning. Ensures compliance with all health department rules regarding sanitary kitchen facilities and food handling procedures.
- Provides backup for other cafeteria staff members, including the cafeteria supervisor. Opens or closes kitchen facilities. unlocking/locking all food storage rooms and containers and turning on/off all equipment.
- Performs some clerical duties associated with the cafeteria such as preparing a daily activity report, monitoring cash flow, and assisting with inventory control by verifying stock received and ordering supplies.
- Assists with the setup of the cafeteria serving line and for special functions.
Experience:
- Two to five years preferred Food Services (handling, storing, preparing, serving, etc.)
- Certificate or degree in Culinary Arts preferred; ServSafe and Food Safety Manager certifications required
- Food preparation and food safety
- Cafeteria equipment operation
- Local Health Department food handling safety requirement Individual
