About the Opportunity For this position, you will be providing high-level day-to-day operational support services for the Federal Reserve’s on-prem environment which supports mission critical systems and databases. Database Administrators provide operational production support in an environment where change control, incident management, and compliance policies and procedures are enforced. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the ability to understand complex application flows that include middleware, operating systems, and databases while performing troubleshooting and analysis. Database Administrators act as key technical resources for the multitude of applications that reside in our on-prem environment and will assist with the implementation of code deployments, upgrades, and infrastructure components. The successful candidate would be required to demonstrate strong SQL database administration knowledge, enhanced customer service / communication skills, and the ability to work independently. and the willingness to accept new technical challenges. What You Will Do: Provides high level technical support, database problem management, change management and maintenance on systems. Performs problem analysis for complex configurations of critical databases. Performs complex installation, configuration, customization and tuning. Provides input on answers to technical questions and problems while adhering to standards and procedures. Assists in strategic planning and database architecture and design. Makes recommendations on functional and business requirements. Participates in project activities and provides technical assistance for assigned projects. Performs other related duties as assigned. Have the ability to adapt to our culture and learn the way we manage and support our systems. Monitor production data processes, performance, and database capacity issues. Provide support in database design and application development. Administer and monitor database security. Implement and maintain DBA policies, procedures/manuals. Participate in regular patching events. Support contingency tests and site rotation. Assist in ad hoc projects, assignments, and responsibilities as necessary. Provide on-call and weekend support on a rotational basis. Qualifications: 3 years of experience of database administration and troubleshooting. Intermediate knowledge and work experience installing and configuring Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) Strong working knowledge database monitoring and tuning Significant experience leading database upgrades and patching Intermediate knowledge of backup and recovery mechanisms Detailed knowledge and work experience in database security Intermediate knowledge and work experience with database design Strong knowledge of SQL and ability to troubleshoot Strong knowledge in various Operating Systems, networking, and storage Demonstrated leadership in enhancing database practices and procedures Must be self-motivated, able to work independently and highly responsible to time critical issues.
