Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
- Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoices, and recording entries
- Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities; scheduling and preparing checks; resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation; issuing purchase order amendments and insuring credit is received for outstanding memos.
- Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.
- Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
- Reports sales taxes by calculating requirements on paid invoices.
- Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements.
- Facilitate payment of invoices due by sending bill reminders and contacting clients/vendors.
- Generate reports detailing accounts payables status.
- Understand expense accounts and cost centers. Understand compliance issues around accounts payable processes (W-9, sales tax, etc.)
- Collaborating with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial data.
- Support accounting team with various projects and tasks as needed.
- Performing recordkeeping and preparing financial reports.
- Keeping informed of regulatory requirements and best practices in accounting.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Accounts Payable Clerk Skills and Qualifications:
- Associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- At least 2-years’ experience as an accounts payable specialist, or similar.
- Advanced competency in accounting and business management software.
- In-depth knowledge of accounts payable principles, accounting standards, and industry regulations.
- Extensive experience in account reconciliation.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Excellent collaboration and communication abilities.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external parties to maximize performance, problem solving, and results
- Ability to think analytically with good problem-solving skills. Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. Desire to learn and grown within the field of accounting, good business communication skills are
- Assist in the implementation of change within the organization relating to accounts payable
- Assist in the ongoing improvement and refinement of internal control procedures and operational efficiency in consultation with senior management
- A/P employees will be interacting with Vendors, and Internal Customers such as Purchasing, Receiving, and all other employees to resolve invoice discrepancies daily, so it is imperative they are able to interact on a professional manner at all times.
Job Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Wage: $19.00 - $23.00 DOE per hour, We Pay Weekly, every Friday!
