Federation of Organization is seeking a Part-Time Peer Advocate who will report to the Program Supervisor within the Outreach Program at Patchogue.
HOURS: Part-Time 19 hours per week
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Personal lived experience with mental health. Clean, valid New York State driver’s license. Peer Specialist Certification preferred. Fingerprinting, criminal record check and all necessary clearances from the Justice Center. Meet all health screening requirements set forth by partner hospital regulations.
JOB FUNCTION:
The part-time advocate is responsible for representing Federation of Organizations with interfacing agencies at meetings and events. The staff member will advocate for the needs of people in recovery from mental illness within the mental health system. The advocate will be responsible for providing peer support, advocacy, education, and information to staff, volunteers, and program members. The advocate will facilitate weekly peer support groups at designated hospitals and agency programs. The advocate also attends monthly meetings.
