What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Care Technician II position at FEFA LLC?
FEFA LLC is hiring for a Mid-Level Animal Care Technician with an emphasis on Aquatics to support an animal research facility in Triangle Park, North Carolina. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in the proper care, handling, and maintenance of on-site animals, equipment, and facilities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Read, comprehend, and follow all project SOP’s and Performance Standards.
- Perform daily animal health checks and report any abnormal animal and aquatic conditions to the appropriate veterinary technician and /or supervisor.
- Dispose of dead animals according to project SOP’s and policies.
- Ensure excellent animal care by providing animal & aquatic cage changing, including feed and water, following project SOP’s and schedules established by management.
- Sex and wean animals according to project schedules and SOP’s.
- Maintain daily animal census sheets, room equipment and other forms according to project SOP’s.
- Clean and sanitize animal facility according to project SOP’s and schedules set by management.
- Maintain animal caging and support equipment.
- Provide appropriate assistance with receiving incoming animal shipments according to project SOP’s.
- Provide handling/restraint and manipulation of various animal species.
- Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs.; bend, stoop, clim,b and stand for a prolonged period.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must test for ALAT certification or have the equivalent training and experience within1-year post hire date
- Must have 2 years of laboratory animal science experience.
- Must have previous Aquatics experience, especially with Zebrafish.
- Must have the capability of performing the duties above without supervision.
- Ability to successfully pass a physical and drug test.
- Capability to work Monday - Friday| 7a – 4:00p | may be required to work on the weekends/holidays as directed. The weekend/holiday hours are generally between 7a -11am but may vary. Additionally, you may be expected to work extra hours due to an emergency.
- Ability to work well with a team.
- Must be a US Citizen and ability to obtain a clearance.
