What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forensic Certified Recovery Peer position at Fellowship House?
Fellowship House is currently seeking Certified Recovery Peer Specialists (CRPS) for available positions within the Forensic Services Team and the Felony Post-Arrest Diversion Program in Broward County.
The Forensic Services Team serves individuals who have been adjudicated Incompetent to Proceed due to mental illness. The program is designed to provide care coordination, ensure linkage and provision of comprehensive community-based behavioral health services by Broward Community Service Providers. They also provide Competency Restoration Training as ordered by the courts to allow individuals to regain competency to stand trial.
The Felony Post-Arrest Jail Diversion Program is designed to divert mentally ill individuals charged with 3rd and 2nd degree non-violent felonies from the criminal justice system into comprehensive community-based treatment and support services. Participants in the felony diversion program are referred primarily from jail. Services include care coordination and peer support services to ensure the linkage and provision of community-based behavioral health resources.
The role of a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist is to serve as an advocate and mentor to individuals involved in the Broward mental health court system, as well as, run recovery support groups and Competency Restoration Training courses.
In order to qualify for this position, you must have a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist or Certified Recovery Peer Specialist-Provisional credential through the Florida Certification Board (FCB) OR successfully obtain your Certified Recovery Peer Specialist-Provisional credential within 90 days of hire.
The CRPS-P requirements include:
1) High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree. High School Diplomas or General Equivalence Degrees must be eligible for acceptance by colleges or universities holding nationally recognized accreditation through the United States Department of Education and/or Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
2) Lived Experience Endorsements
Lived experience is a foundation of peer-to-peer support services. As such, CRPS applicants must attest to at least one of the lived-experience endorsements at the time of application. Available endorsements are:
· Adult (A): Lived experience as an adult in recovery for a minimum of 2-years from a mental health and/or substance use condition.
· Family (F): Lived experience as a family member or caregiver to another person who is living with a mental health and/or substance use condition.
· Veteran (V): Lived experience as a veteran of any branch of the armed forces who is in recovery for a minimum of 2-years from a mental health and/or substance use condition.
· Youth (Y): Are between the ages of 18 and 29 at the time of application and have lived experience as a person who, between the ages of 14 and 25 experienced a significant life challenge and is now living a wellness and/or recovery-oriented lifestyle for at least two years.
3) Completion of Florida Certification Board CRPS approved 40-hour training program.
4) Passing score on the Certified Recovery Peer Specialist Exam
All applicants must pass a Level 2 Background Screening that is conducted thru the Department of Children and Families. Drug Test is required upon employment.
