All MWEOC staff have emergency assignments and are considered deployed in place. Exercises and activations are planned and unplanned, and may require long hours, nights, weekends and holidays.
All MWEOC employees are: (1) required to use a government-issued electronic device (to include cellular phones); (2) subject to recall during emergency situations; and (3) required to perform work in locations both above and below ground.

Working Conditions: The work is performed in kitchen areas where the steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing equipment often causes uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity. The work area is well lighted and vented, but is usually noisy from food service activities, and there is danger of slipping on floors where food or beverages have been dropped.
The incumbent is regularly exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot surfaces, and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration and and/or freezer units. Temperatures range from - 10 to 80 degrees on a daily basis. Also exposed to extreme weather during Food Cart Operations in the winter months
Physical Effort: Will be required to perform heavy lifting and moving and hard work such as scouring and scrubbing large utensils, pots and pans. Moving and unloading heavy carts and pallets. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds to load and unload Food Service Delivery vehicles. Standing or walking for long periods of time.

What will I do in this position if hired?
In this position, you will serve as a Food Service Worker, providing support to the Food Services Department assisting leads and cooks in preparation of food service. Typical assignments include:
- Preparing simple foods and beverages following portioning guidelines.
- Ensuring that proper holding temperatures are maintained on all ready-to-serve hot and cold foods, adhering to all appropriate food safety practices, rules and guidelines, including utilizing the temperature danger zone to keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold.
- Following established Standard Operating Procedures according to established recipes, including maintaining time and temperature logs for their assigned areas.
- Ensuring proper storage of food and supplies including rotation of inventory (FIFO Method); ensuring that food is covered, dated and stored properly using industry standard and work unit practices, and is easily accessible; determining appropriate storage areas, and ensures that food is promptly carried to the appropriate storage location.
- Performing all industry standard and work unit approved cleaning and sanitizing to ensure that the work unit maintains high standards of cleanliness and sanitation required in the Food Service industry which includes breakdown, cleaning and re-assembly of all standard kitchen equipment, including but not limited to dishwashers and conveyor lines, slicers, mixers, blenders, choppers, toasters, sandwich grills and food processors.

- Food Service Workers must maintain a high degree of personal hygiene to include clean body, hair and clothes. Hair must be covered by a hat or hairnet. Facial hair should be limited to: Sideburns are permitted as long as they don't flair out, grow no longer than the lower portion of the opening for the ear, and are trimmed horizontally and not at an angle. The only facial hair allowed are mustaches that are kept closely trimmed, doesn't grow over the upper lip, and doesn't go any wider than your mouth, (unless completely covered by bear and/or mustache guard.)
