Employee is responsible for handling materials, candy, and producing product. They must set-up, change-over, and run lines and/or assist packaging employees. They are responsible for sanitation, quality, productivity, and safety in their area.
Ways you will make a difference
OPERATIONAL TASKS:
Supply packaging room with packaging supplies e.g.. film, cardboard, and glue. Change the film on Prodopak, Multipak, and Generals as needed and assist all of 10 cent side. Also need to maintain appropriate glue levels in the glue pots and assist all of 50 cent side.
Perform usages/usage corrections of all materials in the area of responsibility, using GLOBE/SAP
Operate case erector as needed. Erect and collapse corrugated material.
Operate case taper to seal finished goods cases at end of line and change tape on case taper as needed.
Operate shrink-wrap machine by changing and adjusting film on shrink-wrap machine. Clear shrink wrap machines of any jams. Must use lifts to move film. Guarantee all rolls are in place before leaving for the day.
Separate and repack product held for quality problems.
Assure all materials needed for a product are on the line and call the packaging or product driver for supplies as needed.
Set-up machines for next shift and complete changeovers as needed. Assure all material is covered.
Assure all unneeded items are removed and covered from the area and placed in proper area. Or call driver for pick-up back to the warehouse.
Fill out downtime sheets and other applicable forms.
Empty and remove buckets, drums, catch pans, and hoppers to proper area and/or receptacle for example into large hoppers, animal feed etc. Ensure any hoppers drained have proper tag to identify when the candy was drained and its current status.
Communicate with other shifts to learn issues for the day and pass on issues for the day.
Understand and operate scales for WIP.
Monitor quality of finished displays and shippers produced at end of line for proper taping, code dates, shrink wrap, and proper orientation of units in display and in cases.
Use proper shipper for displays, use proper stamps as needed, and orientate displays correctly in cases. In addition ability to palletize and orientate displays and shippers correctly and place correct amount per pallet.
Ability to climb ladders in order to open hoppers and clear out candy jams.
Maintain clean work area utilizing daily GMP checklists.
Perform other duties as assigned

Employee shall follow all required GMP, quality and food safety requirements. In addition, employee shall notify their supervisor or other designated personnel of all quality or food safety findings or incidents.

Employee shall follow Ferrara - Itasca’s safety & environmental objectives & targets, follow the plant safety rules, report incidents & unsafe conditions immediately, maintain compliance with regulations, and refer to the Safety & Environmental Management System(s) on all related procedures and programs.
