Summary
Working closely with the Engineering and Maintenance teams, taking the lead in identifying and fixing complex issues with packaging equipment using strong troubleshooting skills to reduce downtime and improve machine run. You will support and improve manufacturing operations by demonstrating expert knowledge and a passion for learning, while continuously developing your skills. You will also focus on the efficient use of resources, as well as product quality using a safety mindset.

Primary Responsibilities
- Identify root causes of downtime and troubleshoot process equipment to improve performance
- Assemble and repair equipment to ensure efficient operation
- Provide technical mentorship to engineering and maintenance team members, imparting your expertise and fostering a collaborative environment that encourages skill development and problem solving proficiency
- Document Assembly and Design reviews of installations on applicable manufacturing test equipment
- Read schematics/assembly drawings, layouts, data and process sheets to perform testing, build fixtures, analyze and trouble-shoot equipment
- Install and commission packaging equipment to improve yield and/or reduce cycle time following the established validation procedure
- Available to work in shifts, on call outside of normal working hours and on weekends when required
- Travel between production facilities to perform critical repairs as needed
- Promote and support Continuous Improvement activities in Manufacturing
- Simulate and troubleshoot high speed robotic packaging equipment
- Contributes/fosters Health & Safety/GMP’s
- Monitor existing processes and make recommendations for improvement
Required Ingredients:
- 4-5 years of experience in mechanical/electro mechanical maintenance/installation (it is not necessary to be licensed).
- Ideally food or pharmaceutical experience
- Experience in building/installing packaging equipment
- Working independently, effectively lead and drive projects to success
- Post-Secondary education in Engineering or Engineering Technology or related field is an asset
- Ability to read mechanical schematics and prints
- Basic understanding of PLC’s/logic controls and panel view navigation (HMI)
- Experience with maintenance systems and computer programs (MS Office; Excel; Outlook)
- Experience with hand tools and welding (TIG-Welding nice to have)
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Passionate about mechanical repair
- Flexible to work extended or after hours (when required)
